Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What API standards do your fluid control products meet?
A: Our high-pressure fluid control products are manufactured to API 6A (specification for wellhead and tree equipment) and API 16C (specification for choke and kill equipment). The API 6A:2018 standard covers design, materials, testing, inspection, marking, and storage requirements for up to 14 equipment types, defining four Product Specification Levels (PSL 1-4), 8 material classes (AA-HH), and temperature/pressure ratings. API 16C covers surface and subsea choke and kill equipment for drilling operations.
Q2: What pressure ratings do you offer?
A: We manufacture components and manifolds rated from 2,000 psi through 20,000 psi (14 MPa through 140 MPa). Standard drilling and fracturing manifolds are typically 5,000 psi to 15,000 psi, with ultra-high-pressure systems available at 20,000 psi (140 MPa) for HP/HT wells.
Q3: What is the difference between API 6A and API 16C?
A: API 6A applies to wellhead equipment, trees, valves, flanges, and other components used in producing wells and for well control at the surface. API 16C applies specifically to choke and kill manifolds and articulated lines used during drilling for well control — handling higher flows and more dynamic operating conditions. We hold certifications for both standards.
Q4: What are PSL levels, and why do they matter?
A: Product Specification Levels (PSL) define the rigor of design, material, and testing requirements. PSL 1 is the least rigorous (suitable for low-risk wells). PSL 2 adds additional material testing. PSL 3 and PSL 4 include more stringent design validation, nondestructive examination, and documentation requirements. For HP/HT and sour service wells, higher PSL levels (3 or 4) are often required. We supply PSL 2 through PSL 4, with customer-specified material classes.
Q5: Do your products work with equipment from other manufacturers?
A: Yes. Our high-pressure fluid control components are designed for dimensional and functional interchangeability with world-leading manifolds from American manufacturers (SPM, FMC, NOV, etc.). Same flange patterns, same hub dimensions, same connection types, same pressure ratings. You can replace a failed component from another brand with our part without modifying the manifold layout.
Q6: What material classes do you offer for sour service (H₂S)?
A: We manufacture to material classes EE, FF, and HH for sour service applications. HH is the highest sour service class, suitable for wells with up to 20% H₂S by volume. Material traceability from mill certification through final heat treatment is maintained, and we can provide third-party verification of chemical and mechanical properties upon request.
Q7: Can you build custom manifolds for my specific wellsite layout?
A: Absolutely. Our Manifold Branch has designed and manufactured over 100 different types of combination manifolds for drilling, cementing, fracturing, well testing, and offshore operations. We take your wellsite layout, piping requirements, and equipment connections and design a custom manifold assembly that minimizes connection points, leak risks, and pressure drop. Contact our engineering team with your specifications.
Q8: What is the typical lead time for high-pressure fluid control products?
A: Lead times vary by product and current order volume:
-
Standard valves and fittings: 6–8 weeks
-
Custom combination manifolds: 12–16 weeks, depending on complexity
-
Large-scale fracturing manifold skids: 16–20 weeks
Expedite options are available for priority orders. We recommend ordering 12 months ahead of your planned operation for large-scale manifold systems.
Q9: Do you provide certifications for international shipping and customs?
A: Yes. Every product shipment includes a complete certification package: material test reports (mill certificates), dimensional inspection reports, hydrostatic test certificates, API monogram license documentation, and any applicable third-party inspection certificates. For Russian/Eurasian markets, we can provide GOST certification packages upon request.
Q10: What is your warranty policy on fluid control products?
A: Our standard warranty is 12 months from date of shipment against defects in material and workmanship. Warranty covers repair or replacement of defective parts; it does not cover damage from misuse, improper installation, erosion from abrasive fluids beyond specified parameters, or failure due to operation above rated pressure/temperature.
