Applications
Oil drilling high‑pressure operating equipment from SJ is used wherever downhole pressures exceed standard 5,000 psi ratings:
1. Deep & Ultra‑Deep Drilling (20,000+ ft)
When total vertical depth exceeds 20,000 feet, the mud column alone approaches 10,000 psi hydrostatic. Add pumping friction, and you need 7,500 psi equipment minimum. Our HPP‑2000 pump and HP manifold are standard on deep well rigs in the Permian, Western Sichuan, and offshore Brazil.
2. HPHT (High Pressure, High Temperature) Wells
Reservoirs with pressures above 15,000 psi and temperatures above 350°F require special 15k–20k psi equipment with sour‑service metals. Our HP swivels and choke/kill lines are used in the Gulf of Mexico, South China Sea, and Middle East HPHT fields.
3. Offshore Jack‑Up & Semi‑Submersible Rigs
Offshore rigs often drill high‑pressure sub‑salt reservoirs. Our HP mud pumps and manifolds are compact enough for cramped deck spaces, with marine coatings and ABS certification. We supply complete HP fluid systems for major drilling contractors.
4. Well Control & Kick Circulation
When a kick occurs, you need to circulate out influxes at high pressure through the choke manifold. Our HP choke and kill lines are rated for simultaneous high pressure and abrasive cutting flow. Manual or remote hydraulic chokes allow precise backpressure control.
5. High‑Pressure Cementing
Cementing deep production casing or squeezing operations requires cement pumps capable of 10,000+ psi. Our HP triplex pumps (used as cementing units) feature separate fluid ends for abrasive cement slurries. Ask about our cementing package with batch mixers.
6. Hydraulic Fracturing Support (High‑Pressure Manifolds)
Although fracking uses dedicated frac pumps, drilling rigs often need HP manifolds for wellhead isolation or to pump treating fluids during completion. Our HP 15k manifolds are compatible with frac iron (hammer unions, 2″ 1502).
7. Workover & Snubbing Under Pressure
Live‑well workover requires HP equipment to handle wellhead pressure while running tubing. Our compact HP swivels and rotary hoses are used on snubbing units and coil tubing BOP stacks.

Why Choose SJ Petroleum Machinery?
1. Sinopec‑Owned – Factory Direct, No Middleman
SJ is a wholly owned manufacturing subsidiary of Sinopec – not a trading company. You pay factory‑direct prices and get the engineering resources of a global energy major. Our HP equipment is used on Sinopec’s own rigs, so it’s field‑proven before it ever reaches your location.
2. 80+ Years of High‑Pressure Engineering
We’ve been building mud pumps and HP components since 1941. That’s over eight decades of iterative design based on real drill site failures, wear patterns, and pressure spikes. Many of our competitors have copied our fluid end geometry – but they can’t copy our metallurgy and heat treat process.
3. Full API Compliance & Traceability
Every HP component is:
-
Serialized with heat number traceable to raw material mill certificate
-
Hardness tested (≤ 22 HRC for sour service)
-
Magnetic particle inspected (MPI) or ultrasonic (UT)
-
Hydrostatically pressure tested to 1.5× working pressure
-
Supplied with API monogram and Certificate of Compliance
No shortcuts. Your HSE and engineering teams will have complete documentation.
4. In‑House Forging & Machining
We don’t buy castings or outsourcing forgings. Our own forging press and CNC machining centers produce fluid ends, swivel bodies, and manifold tees under our direct quality control. That means shorter lead times and full control over metallurgy.
5. Shorter Lead Times Than Western Brands
Typical lead time for an SJ‑HPP mud pump: 12–14 weeks. HP standpipe manifold: 6–8 weeks. HP swivel: 8–10 weeks. Western brands often quote 20–30 weeks. Expedited delivery is available for emergency replacements.
6. Global Spare Parts Network
We stock high‑wearing HP parts (valves, seats, liners, packing, seals) in regional warehouses – Houston, Dubai, Singapore, and Jingzhou. Spare parts ship within 48 hours. For complete pumps or manifolds, we maintain a rental fleet for short‑term needs.
7. Custom Engineering for Unusual Pressures
Need a 20,000 psi swivel with a non‑standard washpipe? Or a 5,000 psi manifold built from super‑duplex for seawater service? Send us your requirement. Our engineers will design, stress‑analyze, and prototype – usually within 4 weeks.
8. Field Service & Commissioning
Our technicians can be on site for:
-
Installation and alignment of HP pumps
-
Pressure testing of manifolds and lines
-
Training your crews on maintenance and safe operation
-
Failure analysis and repair
We support our equipment for its entire life.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What working pressure should I choose – 7,500 psi or 15,000 psi?
Simple rule: If your expected maximum surface pressure (pump pressure + hydrostatic + friction) will never exceed 7,500 psi, the 7,500 psi class is adequate and less expensive. If you drill HPHT wells where reservoir pressure can kick to 10,000–15,000 psi, or if you ever plan to use high‑density mud (20+ ppg), go with 15,000 psi. Many operators choose 10,000 psi as a middle ground. We recommend running a well control simulation before deciding.
Q2: How long do HP fluid end components (valves and seats) last?
In clean water‑based mud at moderate pressure, 500–1,000 hours. In abrasive oil‑based mud with sand or barite, 150–300 hours. The biggest factors are solids content and pump speed. We recommend keeping spare valve/seat sets on the rig – at $800–1,500 per set, it’s cheap compared to non‑productive time.
Q3: Do your HP components meet NACE MR0175 for sour service?
Yes. When specified, we use materials that meet NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 – hardness ≤ 22 HRC, no sulfide stress cracking. We supply material test reports and hardness logs for every sour‑service component. Note that not all standard parts are NACE; you must request it at time of order.
Q4: Can I retrofit your HP manifold onto an existing rig with older connections?
Yes. We offer adapter flanges and unions to interface with virtually any API connection: R‑type, BX, grey lock, hammer unions (1502, 1002, 602). Provide the connection details of your existing standpipe and BOP stack, and we’ll engineer the adapters.
Q5: What’s your warranty on HP equipment?
Standard: 18 months from shipment or 12 months from commissioning (whichever comes first). For fluid end consumables (valves, seats, liners, packing), we warranty against manufacturing defects only – not normal wear. Extended warranties up to 36 months available for complete pumps.
Q6: How do I know if my rotary hose needs replacement?
API 7K recommends: replace every 3 years or when any of the following appears – visible wire braid, kinking, cover cracking, end fitting movement, or if the hose has been subjected to a pressure spike exceeding working pressure. We can supply inspection checklists and test fittings.
Q7: Do you offer high‑pressure equipment for cementing operations separately?
Absolutely. Our SJ‑HPP pumps configured with separate cementing fluid ends (larger valves, abrasive‑resistant trim) and batch mixers are used by many well service companies. Ask for our Cementing Package datasheet.
Q8: What’s your lead time for a full HP circulating system (pump + manifold + swivel + hoses)?
A complete package for a new rig typically takes 16–20 weeks from order (including engineering integration). Rental systems can be delivered in 2–4 weeks from existing inventory.
