Why Choose SJ Petro for Offshore Drilling Platform Equipment?

1. Decades of Marine Experience

We are not a land rig builder trying to go offshore. Our parent company Sinopec operates dozens of offshore platforms. We’ve learned the hard lessons – salt spray, condensation, cramped maintenance – and engineered them out.

2. Class Society Liaison Built-In

We prepare all documentation for ABS/DNV/Lloyd’s classification as part of our standard engineering. You don’t have to chase certificates from multiple vendors. One point of contact for class approval.

3. Compact Footprint Without Compromising Performance

Our skid rigs achieve land-rig horsepower in a platform-friendly layout. Mast folds hydraulically to clear cranes. Mud tanks snake around legs. We’ve done 5,000m rigs on platforms with only 25m x 18m deck space.

4. Full Ex Certification in-House

Our control cabinets, motors, lights, and sensors are designed and tested to ATEX / IECEx standards. You don’t need a separate explosion-proof retrofit. We also provide Zone 2 rated equipment for non-hazardous areas.

5. Fast Response to Offshore Emergencies

We maintain a 24/7 offshore support team. Critical spares stocked in regional hubs – Singapore (Asia), Dubai (Middle East), Houston (Americas). For urgent repairs, we can fly a technician to your platform within 10 days.

6. Retrofit & Upgrade Services

Do you have an older platform rig with outdated controls or dangerous electricals? We can retrofit our Ex d control system, add a top drive, or upgrade the BOP control unit – all while the rig is between wells.

7. Backed by Sinopec – Financially Stable

No worries about a small supplier going bankrupt mid-project. We are a state-backed subsidiary with full resources to honor warranties and long-term support.

FAQ – Offshore Drilling Platform Equipment

Q1: What is the difference between a "skid rig” and a standard land rig?

A: A skid rig has a reinforced substructure with low-friction skid shoes or wheels. It’s designed to be pushed sideways (by hydraulic jacks or platform cranes) between well slots without dismantling. Land rigs would need to be completely broken down for any lateral move.

Q2: How do you protect equipment from saltwater corrosion?

A: Three layers: 1) High-build epoxy coatings (minimum 300 microns DFT), 2) Stainless steel or galvanized fittings (no exposed mild steel), 3) Sacrificial zinc anodes on submerged parts. Our offshore warranty covers corrosion-related failure for 24 months.

Q3: Do your motors and panels have ATEX certificates?

A: Yes. We offer Ex d (flameproof) and Ex e (increased safety) ratings for Zone 1 and Zone 2. We can provide the full ATEX certificate pack. For ABS class, we add marine type approval.

Q4: Can you design a rig for a specific platform deck layout?

A: Absolutely. We need a deck plan, crane reach limits, and weight restrictions. Our engineers will model the rig in 3D to fit around existing structures (helideck, flare boom, living quarters). We’ve squeezed rigs into spaces as tight as 20m x 18m.

Q5: What is the typical lead time for an offshore skid rig (5,000m class)?

A: 180-240 days from order. This includes detailed engineering for platform integration, fabrication, marine coating, Ex certification, and class society witnessing. Expedited 150-day delivery possible for standard configurations.

Q6: Do you supply subsea BOP control systems?

A: We manufacture the surface control unit (accumulator skid, pumps, control panels) compatible with most subsea BOP stacks (Cameron, NOV, GE). For the subsea pod itself, we recommend partnering with a specialist – but we can integrate their system into our control architecture.

Q7: How do you test the rig before shipment?

A: We fully assemble the rig at our coastal yard (near Shanghai), connect all systems (including simulated BOP), run a full function test, and invite your class surveyor to witness. After disassembly, we marine-pack each module (shrink wrap + desiccant).

Q8: Can you supply spare parts for offshore rigs that are not your original equipment?

A: We do not copy other brands’ parts, but we can manufacture reverse-engineered components under strict quality control (material certs, full dimensions) for obsolete equipment. We also supply standard consumables – filters, belts, seals, zinc anodes – for any offshore rig.
