Product Types – By Specification Tier

We group our workover rigs into three specification tiers for easier selection:

Tier Models Hook Load Range Typical Applications Standard Delivery
Light SJW-90 90k lbs Shallow CBM, rod pump servicing, small operators 5–6 months
Medium SJW-150, SJW-200 150k – 200k lbs Most conventional workover, offshore platform, contractors 6–8 months
Heavy SJW-250, SJW-300 250k – 300k lbs Deep wells, heavy fishing, P&A, offshore large platforms 8–10 months

Why Choose SJ Petro for Your Workover Rig Specifications?

1. We Give You the Full Data Package – Not Just Marketing Numbers
We provide certified load test reports, dimensional CAD drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical single-line diagrams. No hidden specifications.

2. Every Spec Is Verified at Factory
Hook load is tested to 110% of rated. Mast deflection measured at full load. Cycle counts on hydraulic valves. You get a signed test report with each rig.

3. Custom Specifications Without Re-engineering Fees
Need a non-standard mast height? Different well center spacing? Higher snubbing pressure? We adjust our standard designs without charging custom engineering fees for reasonable changes.

4. Interchangeability Across Models
Many components (hydraulic pumps, control valves, wireline sheaves) are common across the SJW-150, -200, and -250 families. This reduces your spare parts inventory.

5. Digital Specifications – 3D Models Available
We can supply STEP or IGES models of the rig for your platform layout or pad design. Also available: rig-up animation videos showing module sequence.

6. 15-Year Spares Guarantee with Spec Traceability
Every part has a specification sheet and retains the same form, fit, and function for 15 years. No undocumented substitutions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: How do I calculate which hook load I need for my well depth?
Use this rule of thumb: weight of tubing (lbs/ft) × depth (ft) + 20% safety margin. For 2-7/8" tubing (approx 6.5 lbs/ft) at 10,000 ft: 65,000 lbs + 20% = 78,000 lbs → SJW-150 (150k) is more than enough. For 3-1/2" tubing (9.3 lbs/ft) at 15,000 ft: 139,500 lbs + 20% = 167,400 lbs → need SJW-200 or -250.

Q2: What is the difference between "hook load” and "line pull”?
Hook load is the weight suspended from the traveling block (actual tubing weight). Line pull is the force at the drawworks drum before the block and tackle mechanical advantage. For a typical 6-line string-up, line pull ≈ hook load / 6 (minus friction).

Q3: Can I get a specification sheet in metric units (kN, meters, kg)?
Yes. All our standard spec sheets are available in both imperial and metric. Download from our website or request by email.

Q4: What transport dimensions matter most for road permits?
Height (retracted mast), width, and axle weights. Our SJW-150 truck-mounted is 13.5 ft height × 8.5 ft width – legal in most US states without permit. The SJW-250 skid modules exceed 9.5 ft width and require oversize permits.

Q5: How accurate are your rig-up time specifications?
Times assume a 4-person experienced crew, prepared pad, and no weather delays. First rig-up on a new site takes longer (add 50%). We provide a rig-up checklist to help you achieve the specified times.

Q6: Do your electric workover rig specifications include harmonic distortion limits?
Yes. Our AC-VFD drives meet IEEE 519 guidelines for harmonic distortion (<5% THD). We can provide harmonic analysis for your site’s power quality requirements.

Q7: Can I get a certified load test at your factory before shipment?
Absolutely. We schedule witness testing upon request. You will see the rig pull 110% of rated hook load with calibrated load cells. Test report stamped by our QA manager.

Q8: How do I interpret "clearance under mast”?
This is the vertical distance from the rig floor to the bottom of the mast when raised. It must accommodate your BOP stack, wellhead, and any lubricator. For example, a 10,000 psi BOP stack with dual rams is about 8–10 ft tall – you need at least 14 ft clearance (our SJW-150 has 16 ft).

Q9: Do you provide specifications for explosion-proof electricals (Class I, Div 1)?
Yes. For onshore hazardous areas, we can supply XP enclosures, sealed conduits, and intrinsic safety barriers. Additional cost and lead time (2–3 months). Full specification available on request.

Q10: How do I request a custom specification quote?
Fill out our Workover Rig Spec Request Form with: well depth, tubing size, desired hook load, any special conditions (H2S, temperature, offshore), and preferred drive. Our engineering team responds within 3 business days with a preliminary spec sheet and budget price.
