Applications – Where the SHXJ112 Earns Its Keep
Operation
Typical Details
Why SHXJ112 is the Right Choice
Daily workover
Pump changes, rod & tubing pulls to 3,500m
Enough hook load for 90% of jobs, light enough for fast moves
Stuck packer pulling
Up to 1,000‑1,100 kN required
1,120 kN gives you margin – not just on‑paper rating
Sidetracking (short radius)
≤150m mill window & kickoff
AC VFD version with top drive handles this smoothly
Well deepening
Add 100‑200m of new hole
Possible with AC VFD version – not for hydraulic
Fishing
Broken rods, tubing, lost tools
Plenty of pull for most fishing scenarios in medium wells
Cement squeeze & plug
Low‑pressure formations
Good control with AC VFD; hydraulic version also works
Platform maintenance campaigns
5‑10 wells consecutively
Skid system makes slot‑to‑slot moves fast – no crane wait
Perfect fit platforms:
-
Fixed platforms with 12‑15 ton crane capacity
-
Wells between 2,500m and 3,500m depth
-
Mature fields where workover frequency is 2‑4 jobs per month
-
Platforms with moderate deck space (7m x 10m clear area)
Not ideal for: Wells deeper than 4,000m, heavy drilling, or continuous stuck pipe pulling above 1,000 kN (then go SHXJ158).

OEM Customization – Making the SHXJ112 Yours
Because no two platforms are identical, we’ve built a flexible customization process around the SHXJ112.
What customers commonly customize:
Need
Our Solution
Crane limit is 10 tons, not 12
Split the heaviest module (drawworks/power unit) into two – 6t + 5t. Mast sections already under 8t.
Platform has only 380V, 150 kVA
Choose hydraulic or electric‑standard (not AC VFD). Or add a step‑up transformer (adds 1.5t).
I want top drive but also want hydraulic backup
Order the "dual drive” option: AC VFD top drive + hydraulic drawworks as backup. Rare, but we’ve done it.
My wellheads are 2.2m apart (tight spacing)
Narrow skid base: 2.8m wide instead of 3.5m. We’ve done 2.5m on a special order.
I need to store the rig when not in use for 6 months
Add a containerized storage package: all modules fit into three 20‑ft ISO containers (with fork pockets).
No platform crane at all
Davit crane kit (manual or electric) that mounts on substructure. Mast raises itself telescopically.
Customization lead times:
-
Standard SHXJ112 (any drive, no split): 6‑7 months
-
With module splitting or narrow skid: 7‑8 months
-
Dual drive or containerized storage: 8‑9 months
Why Choose SJ for the SHXJ112?
Reason
What You Actually Get
Over 200 SHXJ112 units delivered
This isn’t a new design. We’ve refined everything – from hose routing to access ladder placement – based on field feedback.
Three drive options, one rig footprint
You don’t need to redesign your deck layout if you switch drive types later. Mounting points are identical.
API monogram on every pressure component
No shortcuts. Your third‑party inspector will find full traceability from mill to finished product.
Global spares availability
We stock SHXJ112‑specific spares in Houston, Dubai, and Singapore. Common wear parts (brake pads, filters, hoses) are off‑the‑shelf industrial items.
24/7 remote support
Our service team includes former workover supervisors who have run SHXJ112s themselves. They speak "rig hand” English, not textbook English.
Sinopec backing with independent agility
We have the resources of a state‑owned enterprise but the responsiveness of a specialized manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What does "SHXJ112” stand for?
A: "SH” = offshore (Shanhai / Hǎi), "XJ” = workover rig (Xiū jǐng), "112” = nominal hook load in metric tons x10? Actually 112 means 112 metric tons = 1,120 kN. Yes – simple.
Q2: How does the SHXJ112 compare to the SHXJ135?
A: SHXJ135 has 1,350 kN hook load (about 20% more) and deck load ~78 tons (15% heavier). If your wells are consistently deeper than 3,500m or you often pull stuck pipe above 1,000 kN, go SHXJ135. Otherwise, SHXJ112 saves you money and deck space.
Q3: Which drive do you recommend for most customers?
A: For new platforms with reliable power – AC VFD (DB version). The control smoothness and top drive option are worth it. For old platforms with dodgy power or no space for VFD cabinets – hydraulic (H version). The electric‑standard (E version) is a budget compromise we don’t sell often.
Q4: Can I upgrade from rotary table to top drive later?
A: Only if you order the AC VFD version initially. The hydraulic and electric‑standard versions don’t have the mast reinforcement and control interface for top drive. So if you think you might want top drive in the future, start with the DB version – you can run it with a rotary table first, then plug in the top drive later.
Q5: What is the typical fuel consumption on the hydraulic version?
A: About 22‑28 liters per hour at normal workover loads. A 1,000‑liter day tank runs for a 36‑hour continuous operation. We recommend two small day tanks for redundancy.
Q6: What’s the warranty?
A: 18 months from shipment or 12 months from commissioning (whichever first). AC VFD drives have 24 months on the inverter and motor. Hydraulic pumps and motors also 24 months.
Q7: Do you provide offshore commissioning?
A: Yes. Our team will be on your platform for rig‑up supervision, load testing, and first job assistance. Typically 2‑3 weeks. We also provide a remote commissioning option via video (but we recommend in‑person for first rig).
Q8: What training is included?
A: Standard: 3 days on‑site training for up to 6 crew (2 days classroom, 1 day hands‑on). We also offer a "train the trainer” certification. Training materials include a full operator manual, maintenance guide, and troubleshooting flowchart.
Q9: Can the SHXJ112 be used on a jack‑up rig instead of a fixed platform?
A: Yes – with minor modifications to the substructure base (we add jack‑up specific tie‑down points). Several SHXJ112 units are operating on jack‑ups in the Middle East. Specify "jack‑up mounting” at order stage.
Q10: How do I get a firm quotation?
A: Email workover@sjpetro.com with:
-
Platform crane capacity (tons)
-
Well depth and tubing size range
-
Do you have platform AC power? (voltage and kVA if known)
-
Preferred drive (DB / H / E)
-
Any deck space constraints (photo or sketch)
We’ll respond within 5 working days with a technical proposal and budget price.
