Applications – Where Our Systems Are Used

Our inter-well moving systems are deployed across:

Client Type Application System Type
Shale gas operators (8–20 well pads) Batch drilling, rapid pad moves SJ-SK-1000 skidding
Workover contractors Moving between workover wells on same lease SJ-SK-500 skidding
Offshore platform owners Skidding rig between platform slots SJ-SK-1000 (corrosion-protected)
Large NOCs (multi-row pads) Walking rig to any well on pad SJ-WK-2000 walking
Drilling contractors (retrofit) Adding moving capability to existing rigs Custom retrofit kit

Product Types – Complete Systems & Retrofits

We offer four ways to get our inter-well moving technology:

Type Description Best For
Complete new system Full skidding or walking system, including power pack, controls, all cylinders and beams New rig builds, turnkey projects
Retrofit kit for existing rig Designed to bolt onto your existing substructure – includes mounting brackets, cylinders, controls Operators wanting to upgrade current rigs without buying new
Standalone power pack & controls Hydraulic power unit + remote console – connects to existing cylinders (if compatible) Replacing old moving system components
Rental system Short-term rental (3–12 months) of skidding or walking system Testing before purchase, short campaigns

Why Choose SJ Petro Among Inter-Well Moving Manufacturers?

1. Sinopec Subsidiary – Financial Strength & Long-Term Commitment
You are not dealing with a small machine shop. Our parent company (Sinopec Oilfield Equipment) ensures supply chain stability, R&D investment, and after-sales support for decades.

2. Over 50 Inter-Well Moving Systems Delivered
Volume means we have refined our designs. We have learned from every installation – what works, what needs improvement. You benefit from that experience.

3. Custom Engineering Without Excessive Lead Time
Because we design in-house, custom modifications add only 1–2 months to standard lead times. Many competitors outsource engineering, adding months of back-and-forth.

4. Global Shipping & Installation Experience
We have shipped inter-well moving systems to six continents. Our logistics team knows export packing, container loading, customs documentation, and on-site assembly.

5. Transparent Pricing – Fixed Quote with Line Items
Our quote includes: hydraulic cylinders, skid beams/walking frames, power pack, control console, hoses, fittings, and commissioning support. No hidden "engineering fees.”

6. 15-Year Spares Availability Guarantee
We guarantee spares for every moving system component for 15 years – including hydraulic cylinders, valves, control boards, and wear plates.

7. Field Service Engineers in Key Regions
We have service staff in Houston, Dubai, and Singapore who can troubleshoot and repair inter-well moving systems. Remote support available 24/7.

8. Free Pad Layout Consultation
Send us your well pattern and rig specifications. Our engineers will recommend the optimal moving system – skid or walk – and simulate move times.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What is the difference between skidding and walking systems?
Skidding moves the rig in a straight line along fixed beams – simple, fast, lower cost. Walking uses independent hydraulic units that lift, move, set down, and repeat – allowing multi-directional (360°) movement but slower. Choose skidding for single-row pads, walking for complex layouts.

Q2: Can you retrofit an inter-well moving system to my existing rig (not SJ Petro brand)?
Yes. We have retrofitted skidding and walking systems to rigs from National Oilwell, Honghua, and many others. We require a site visit to measure your substructure and design mounting interfaces.

Q3: What is the maximum rig weight your systems can handle?
Our standard SJ-WK-2000 walking system handles up to 2,000 tons (1,814 metric tonnes). For heavier rigs, we can add more walking units – ask for engineered solution.

Q4: How accurate is the well center positioning?
Skidding systems achieve ±5 mm. Walking systems achieve ±10 mm. Final alignment uses laser or wireline reference. Our micro-adjust cylinders fine-tune position.

Q5: Do you provide the hydraulic power pack?
Yes. We supply complete diesel-hydraulic power packs (150–600 HP) with load-sensing pumps. Alternatively, we can integrate with your rig’s existing hydraulic system – specify when requesting quote.

Q6: How long does it take to move a rig between wells?
For skidding: 2–6 hours depending on distance (typical 200–300 ft). For walking: 6–10 hours. Traditional rig-down and move takes 2–5 days.

Q7: Do you offer rental systems?
Yes. We have SJ-SK-1000 skidding systems available for rent (3–12 months). Rental includes maintenance support. Contact for current availability and rates.

Q8: What training do you provide for my crew?
Standard: 3 days classroom + 2 days field (on your pad). Training covers: system assembly, control operation, move sequencing, emergency procedures, and daily maintenance. We provide laminated checklists and video tutorials.

Q9: What is your typical lead time for a custom inter-well moving system?
Skidding system: 6–8 months from order. Walking system: 8–10 months. Retrofit kit: 5–7 months. Faster delivery (by 2–3 months) for repeat configurations – ask about "quick-ship” program.

Q10: Can your system move the rig with the mast up and pipe in the derrick?
For safety, we recommend no pipe in the derrick during moves (setback empty). However, our heavy-duty walking systems can handle full setback load – specify this requirement during engineering.

Q11: What warranty do you offer?
12 months from commissioning or 18 months from shipment (whichever comes first). Warranty covers parts and labor. We keep critical spares in regional hubs for quick exchange.

Q12: How do I get a quote for an inter-well moving system?
Provide: rig weight (tons), pad layout (single row or multi-row, well spacing), move frequency (daily/weekly/monthly), existing rig substructure photos (for retrofit). We respond with preliminary design and fixed price within 5 business days.
