Applications – Where Integrated Systems Excel
| Application | Why Complete System Matters |
|---|---|
| Remote desert / arctic | No local technical support. One integrated system is easier to troubleshoot remotely – we can dial into the PLC. |
| Multi-rig operator with central office | Real-time data from all rigs on one dashboard. Compare performance across locations. |
| High-cost offshore | Downtime costs >$500k/day. Integrated safety and remote diagnostics minimize unplanned stops. |
| Drilling contractor bidding tenders | Present a complete system with firm performance guarantees – not a loose collection of components. |
| University / research drilling | Need clean, documented data streams. Our open architecture provides CSV export and API access. |
| Shale gas with batch drilling | Standardized automation across multiple walking rigs – train once, replicate everywhere. |
Why Choose SJ Petro for Your Complete Drilling System?
1. One Engineering Team, End-to-End
We don’t "orchestrate” third-party black boxes. Our own engineers design the VFD, write the PLC code, build the control console, and integrate the sensors. When you call for support, you reach the people who wrote the software.
2. Backed by Sinopec’s Own Drilling Operations
Sinopec Group drills over 2,000 wells per year. Our systems are battle-tested in the Tarim Basin, Sichuan deep gas, and offshore Bohai Bay. We know what fails in real mud, real heat, and real winter.
3. Pre-Integration at Our Factory – Not on Your Wellsite
Before shipment, we assemble the entire system at our 50,000 m² yard: rig connected to VFD, pumps connected to control, data flowing to the cloud. You can witness a full drilling simulation. When the system arrives at your site, it’s already debugged.
4. Open Data Architecture – No Vendor Lock-In
We don’t encrypt or hide data. All sensor streams are available as standard Modbus or OPC. You own your data. You can connect your own analytics, or we can provide dashboards – your choice.
5. Global Remote Support + Regional Service
Our 24/7 support center can see the same PLC logic and sensor data you see. Often we can fix configuration issues remotely without sending a technician. For hardware, regional hubs hold critical spares.
6. Flexible Commercial Models
-
Turnkey sale – One price, delivered and commissioned.
-
Lease – Monthly payments, we maintain the system.
-
Drill-by-meter – Pay only for meters drilled, no fixed daily rate.
-
System upgrade – Replace your existing control system with ours, keeping your mechanical rig.
7. API & IEC Certified
Full API Q1, 4F, 7K, 8C. Control system complies with IEC 61508 (SIL-2). Explosion-proof versions meet ATEX / IECEx.
FAQ – Complete Drilling System Solutions
Q1: How is a "complete system” different from a "turnkey drilling package”?
A: A turnkey package includes all equipment – rig, pumps, camp, etc. A complete system focuses on integration: all components work as one unified machine with shared control and data. You can buy a complete system with or without camp, with or without drilling services. It’s about how the equipment talks to each other, not just what’s in the list.
Q2: Can you integrate existing equipment I already own into your system?
A: Yes. We often retrofit our control and data system onto older mechanical rigs. As long as we have sensor inputs and actuator interfaces, we can bring your legacy drawworks and pumps into the same unified HMI.
Q3: What is the typical lead time for a complete drilling system (5,000m class)?
A: Standard: 150-180 days from order. This includes design, procurement, fabrication, yard assembly, system integration testing (2-3 weeks), and packing. Expedite possible for additional cost.
Q4: Do you provide training for the integrated control system?
A: Yes – 3 weeks: 1 week at our factory on the actual system (before disassembly), 1 week at your site during commissioning, and 1 week of supervised drilling with your crew. We also provide a full simulator (software only) for ongoing training.
Q5: What happens if a sensor fails? Can we still drill?
A: The system is designed with redundancy. Critical sensors (hook load, pit volume) have dual sensors. If one fails, the system switches to the backup and alerts the driller. Non-critical sensors can be bypassed. We also stock common sensors in regional hubs.
Q6: Can your system connect to a central office 1,000 km away?
A: Yes. We use a secure VPN tunnel over satellite or cellular. Your office engineers can view real-time drilling parameters, historic data, and even receive alarm notifications via email or SMS. We do not charge a subscription fee – you only pay for your own connectivity.
Q7: Is your system compatible with third-party automation like NOV’s Cyberbase?
A: At the data level, yes – our system outputs standard WITSML files. For direct machine-to-machine integration, we would need a gateway. We recommend standardizing on our system for simplicity. We can also install our control system alongside an existing third-party system as a data-only overlay.
Q8: How do I get a firm proposal for a complete drilling system?
A: Send us your well plan (depth, casing, expected formation), location (climate, logistics), and any existing equipment you want to reuse. We’ll provide a system architecture drawing, component list, integration test plan, and all-inclusive price within 2 weeks.
