Product Types – Choose Your Installation Speed and Transport Method

We offer three main families of quick install drilling equipment. The right choice depends on your road access, crane availability, and how often you move.

1. Containerized Drilling Rig (C-Series)

Best for: International shipping, poor road infrastructure, locations where you need to store modules between jobs.

How it works: Every major component fits inside a standard 20ft or 40ft shipping container. The containers themselves become the rig’s equipment rooms. At the wellsite, you lift the containers off the truck, unfold or extend the mast, and connect.

Advantages:

  • Ships as regular cargo – no oversized permits

  • Containers provide weather protection and security

  • Easy to store – just park the containers

  • No crane? Use our optional container self-loading system

2. Skid-Mounted Modular Rig (S-Series)

Best for: Cluster well pads, locations with mobile crane access, permanent or semi-permanent installations.

How it works: Modules are mounted on steel skids with fork pockets and lifting lugs. They’re transported by flatbed truck and placed with a crane. Pinned connections between skids form the rig substructure.

Advantages:

  • Very rigid – ideal for long-term drilling programs

  • Easy to reconfigure for different well spacings

  • Lower cost than containerized (no container structure)

3. Trailer-Mounted Fast Rig (T-Series)

Best for: Workover, shallow drilling, rapid well-to-well moves, regions with paved or gravel roads.

How it works: The entire rig (drawworks, mast, power pack) is mounted on a heavy-duty trailer. You tow it to location, tilt up the mast (hydraulically), and start drilling – no crane required at all.

Advantages:

  • Fastest rig-up: 2–4 hours

  • One-piece transport – no module assembly

  • Ideal for emergency workover or shallow gas drilling

4. Helicopter-Portable Modular Rig (H-Series)

Best for: Mountainous terrain, jungle, offshore platforms, anywhere roads don’t exist.

How it works: Each module is sized and weighted for helicopter sling loads (typically under 5 metric tons). You fly the rig in piece by piece.

Advantages:

  • Access to truly remote locations

  • Minimal ground disturbance

  • Rapid assembly using helicopter-friendly connection designs

Applications – Where Quick Install Equipment Saves the Most Time

Our fast rig-up systems excel in these scenarios:

  • Remote exploration drilling – limited road access, short seasonal windows (e.g., frozen tundra, rainy season)

  • Cluster well development – move between wells on the same pad in hours, not days

  • Emergency workover – get a rig on site fast when a well goes down

  • Shallow gas or coalbed methane – many shallow wells, each requiring a rig move

  • Water well drilling – municipal or agricultural projects with multiple sites

  • Mining dewatering wells – temporary drilling programs in active mines

  • Disaster response drilling – rapid deployment after earthquakes or floods

Why Choose SJ Petro for Quick Install Drilling Equipment?

Because "fast installation” doesn’t mean "cheap quality” – and we prove it every day.

Your Problem SJ Petro’s Answer
"We need to drill 20 shallow wells in 6 months. Rig moves are killing our schedule.” Our modular rigs cut move time by 70–80%. You’ll drill more wells in the same season.
"Our site has no heavy crane. How do we assemble a rig?” Choose self-erecting mast models or containerized rigs with self-loading systems. No crane needed.
"We worry about field welding – quality is never consistent.” There is zero field welding on our quick install rigs. All fabrication is done in our API-certified factory.
"We operate in multiple countries. Shipping matters.” Containerized models fit standard ISO containers. No special permits, no oversized cargo headaches.
"What if we need to move the rig 500 meters to the next well?” On skid-mounted models, you can skid the entire rig using hydraulic jacks. No disassembly required.

More reasons:

  • Sinopec Group heritage – Founded 1941, over 80 years of oilfield manufacturing

  • API 4F, 7K, 8C certified – Not just "designed to API” – certified

  • Global delivery – We’ve shipped quick install rigs to Southeast Asia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East

  • One-stop integration – We supply the rig, the mud pumps, the BOP, the downhole tools – everything

  • Spare parts availability – We stock critical components and ship DHL/FedEx within 24 hours

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What does "quick install” actually mean in hours?

A: For our smallest rig (Q-1000, 1,000m depth), a four-person crew can go from modules on the ground to spud-ready in 8 hours. The largest model (Q-4000, 4,000m depth) takes about 36 hours. That’s not including foundation or site preparation – just rig assembly.

For comparison, a conventional rig of the same depth might take 2–4 weeks to assemble.

Q2: Do I need a crane to install the rig?

A: It depends on the model:

  • Containerized rig – Yes, you need a crane to lift the containers off the truck, unless you order our optional self-loading system (hydraulic legs that lower the containers to the ground).

  • Skid-mounted modular rig – Yes, you need a crane to place the skids.

  • Trailer-mounted fast rig – No crane required. The rig tows in as one unit and raises its own mast.

  • Helicopter-portable rig – Obviously, you need a helicopter with sling capacity.

Q3: What about the mast? Do I need a separate crane to raise it?

A: On most of our quick install rigs, the mast is self-erecting using the drawworks or a dedicated hydraulic cylinder. No crane needed for mast raising. We’ll specify this clearly in your quotation.

Q4: Can these rigs operate in extreme weather – heat, cold, rain?

A: Yes. We offer:

  • Arctic packages – down to -45°C operating, with heated enclosures and low-temperature seals

  • Desert packages – sand-resistant seals, oversized coolers, dust protection

  • Tropical packages – corrosion protection, mold-resistant materials, rain covers

Standard models are fine for moderate climates (0°C to 40°C).

Q5: How deep can your quick install rigs drill?

A: Our standard Q-Series goes up to 4,000 meters (13,120 ft) with a 225 metric ton hook load. For deeper requirements, we can custom-engineer a modular rig up to 7,000m – but that will increase module weights and installation time. Contact us with your target depth.

Q6: What certifications do these rigs carry?

A: Standard – API 4F (drilling structures), API 7K (drilling equipment), API 8C (hoisting equipment). We also hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Third-party certification (DNV, ABS, BV) available upon request.

Q7: How long does it take to get a quick install rig after I place an order?

A: Lead time is typically 4–6 months for standard Q-Series models. Custom designs or special materials (e.g., arctic grade) may add 2–3 months.

Q8: Do you provide training for our local crew?

A: Yes. We offer:

  • On-site training during installation and commissioning (1–2 weeks)

  • Video tutorials and digital manuals

  • Optional classroom training at our factory in Jingzhou, China

We’ve found that crews familiar with conventional rigs pick up our modular systems very quickly – usually within 2–3 days.

Q9: Can I get a used or demo quick install rig to save money?

A: Occasionally we have demo units or trade-ins available. Contact our sales team to ask about current inventory.

Q10: What’s the warranty?

A: 12 months after commissioning or 18 months after shipment (whichever comes first). We maintain a spare parts inventory for all Q-Series components.

Q11: How do your prices compare to conventional rigs of the same capacity?

A: Our quick install rigs are typically 10–20% higher than a conventional "knocked down” rig of similar capacity – because of the additional engineering and pre-assembly. However, you save that difference (and much more) on the first few rig moves. If you move the rig more than 3–4 times per year, the total cost of ownership is significantly lower.

Q12: Can I finance or lease a quick install rig?

A: Yes. We work with third-party financing partners and can arrange lease-to-own or operating lease structures for qualified customers. Minimum 30% down payment for direct purchase.
