Applications – Where Heavy Duty Equipment Is Required

Application Why Standard Equipment Is Insufficient Our Heavy Duty Solution
Deepwater exploration (>2,000 m water depth) Long riser = high friction pressure; cold seabed = long setting time 18,000 psi, foam cementing, low‑temp capability
HPHT gas wells (pressure >15,000 psi, temp >150°C) Standard pumps cannot achieve required displacement pressure Reinforced fluid ends, high‑temp seals, dual pumps
Ultra‑deep onshore wells (>7,000 m) High hydrostatic pressure + long casing strings = extreme pump load 2,400+ HP, twin pump, continuous duty rating
Large diameter casing (16″ – 20″) High pump rate required for turbulent flow (20+ bpm) Triple pump config, 26 bpm rate
Arctic / permafrost wells (-40°C) Standard units freeze, fluids thicken, electronics fail Arctic package: heated enclosures, synthetic fluids
Continuous batch cementing (multi‑well pads) Standard units overheat during back‑to‑back jobs Oversized coolers, heavy‑duty cycle rating
High‑rate abandonment (P&A campaigns) Long pumping hours accelerate wear Heavy‑duty pumps, extended warranty on wear parts

All heavy duty units include ACM‑IV.1 density control, heavy‑duty DAS, and dual‑redundancy on critical systems. Lead time: 8‑14 months depending on configuration and certification requirements.

Why Choose SJ Petro for Heavy Duty Cementing Equipment?

1. Engineered for Extreme Conditions – Our heavy duty equipment is not "standard with bigger numbers.” We redesign frames, cooling, pumps, and controls for continuous operation at the edge of API ratings.

2. Field Proven in Deepwater & HPHT – Our heavy duty units have cemented wells in the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, South China Sea, and North Sea. References available.

3. Redundancy Built In – Twin/triple pumps, dual mixing, dual controls. You do not lose a well because one component fails.

4. Highest Pressure & Rate in Class – 18,000 psi working pressure, 4.1 m³/min (26 bpm) rate. For ultra requirements, we push to 20,000 psi / 30 bpm – contact engineering.

5. Extreme Environment Certification – ABS CDS, DNV, Lloyd’s, and regional arctic/desert/NACE certifications. We handle the paperwork.

6. Heavy Duty Spares Network – High‑cycle pump parts, seals, and sensors stocked in Houston, Dubai, Singapore, and Aberdeen. 48‑hour emergency air freight.

7. Sinopec Engineering Backing – Access to proprietary data from thousands of heavy duty cementing jobs. We know what breaks and have fixed it.

8. Full Documentation & Training – We provide heavy duty specific training for your crews – high‑pressure safety, pump synchronization, emergency procedures, and advanced DAS analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: When do I need heavy duty cementing equipment instead of standard?
When any of these apply: water depth >1,500 m, well depth >6,000 m, pressure >15,000 psi, casing size >13‑3/8″, or continuous pumping >6 hours at >80% load. If you are not sure, send us your well plan.

Q2: What is the maximum continuous operating pressure of your heavy duty pumps?
Our HD pumps are rated for continuous operation at 18,000 psi (not just intermittent). We test at 27,000 psi hydrostatic (1.5×). For 20,000 psi continuous, we offer an ultra‑heavy duty variant – contact us.

Q3: How do you prevent overheating during long jobs?
Our coolers are oversized by 50% vs calculated heat load. We also provide optional external coolers for extreme tropical or continuous batch operations. Temperature is monitored and logged by the DAS.

Q4: Can your heavy duty unit handle foam cementing?
Yes – all our HD units can be equipped with an automated foam cementing module (nitrogen injection, foam quality control). This is standard for deepwater packages.

Q5: What is the typical fuel consumption of a 2,400 HP heavy duty unit at full load?
Approximately 50‑60 gallons (190‑230 L) per hour at full load. At idle or light load, consumption drops significantly. We provide fuel consumption curves with each unit.

Q6: How long does it take to manufacture a heavy duty cementing unit?
SJ‑HD‑1200: 8‑10 months. SJ‑HD‑2400: 10‑12 months. SJ‑HD‑3600 or custom deepwater: 12‑16 months. These are complex, custom‑built machines – we do not rush quality.

Q7: Do you provide on‑site commissioning for heavy duty units?
Yes – our heavy duty commissioning team stays for the first 2‑3 critical jobs, including deepwater riser displacement and shoe track testing. We do not leave until you are confident.

Q8: What certifications are required for deepwater use?
ABS CDS (Certified Drilling System) is typical. DNV and Lloyd’s also accepted. We manage the certification process – you receive a complete certification package.

Q9: Are your heavy duty units NACE MR0175 compliant for sour service?
Yes – we offer full NACE compliance on all wetted components: fluid ends, valves, seats, packing, sensors. Specify H2S partial pressure and temperature for material class selection.

Q10: Can you supply a complete heavy duty cementing spread (unit + bulk + water + tools)?
Absolutely. We design and build integrated heavy duty spreads – all components matched and tested together. Ideal for deepwater drillships where space and weight are critical.

Q11: What is the warranty on heavy duty equipment?
12 months from commissioning or 18 months from shipment (whichever first). Wear parts (packing, valves, seats) are 6 months. Extended warranties available for fleet operators.

Q12: How do I get a heavy duty equipment quote?
Provide: well type (deepwater/HPHT/ultra‑deep), water depth, total depth, casing program, required max pressure and rate, ambient conditions (temperature, H2S), and any existing certifications required. Our heavy duty engineering team will respond within 10 business days with a proposal.
