Power Generation 6 × 1650 kVA (shared bus, dynamic load sharing)
Rig Move Time (onshore pad) 5–7 days (skid-mounted version)

Applications

Our simultaneous drilling system is proven in these demanding environments:

  • Offshore Platform Development (Jack-up / Fixed) – Drill two platform wells simultaneously, reducing total project duration by 30–40%.

  • High-Density Onshore Well Pads – Shale gas, tight oil, and coalbed methane pads with 8–20 wells per location. Batch drill in half the time.

  • Warm & Mature Fields (Infill Drilling) – Quickly drill infill wells while keeping adjacent production online.

  • Deepwater Tension-Leg Platforms – Minimise costly vessel days by running parallel operations.

  • Remote & Arctic Locations – Reduce camp size and logistics by finishing the campaign earlier.

Product Types / Configurations

We offer three main variants of the dual well simultaneous drilling system:

Type Best For Key Feature
Offshore Twin-Derrick Platform Rig Jack-up / fixed platforms Full independence, weather-deck design
Land Pad Parallel Drilling Rig Shale & tight gas pads Skid-mounted, fast skidding between well rows
Workover & Drilling Simultaneous Rig Mature field infill One side drills, other side works over existing wells

We also offer a dual well simultaneous drilling upgrade kit for existing twin-derrick rigs (requires structural modifications – contact us for feasibility study).

Why Choose SJ Petroleum Machinery as Your Dual Well Simultaneous Drilling Supplier?

1. Real-World Track Record
Our system has drilled over 200 wells on two continents. On a recent offshore project, the client cut platform drilling time from 18 months to 11 months – a 39% reduction.

2. Designed for True Independence
Some "dual activity” rigs share drawworks or mud pumps, causing delays. Ours have 100% independent systems on each side. No false promises.

3. Custom Engineering for Your Field
We don’t push a standard design. Tell us your well spacing, target depth, and rig deck constraints. Our engineers will tailor the custom dual well drilling rig to fit your exact layout.

4. Backed by Sinopec Quality
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Sinopec Oilfield Equipment, we follow API and ISO standards with full traceability. Over 150 patents and "China Famous Brand” recognition.

5. Global Service & Spares
We keep spare modules (top drives, iron roughnecks, drawworks) in regional hubs – Middle East, Africa, and South America. 24/7 remote support included.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What’s the difference between "dual well sequential” and "dual well simultaneous” drilling?
Sequential means one rig drills Well A first, then moves or switches to Well B. Simultaneous means both wells are actively drilled at the same time (different crews, different activities). True simultaneous cuts total project time much more aggressively.

Q2: Can you run both sides at full hook load simultaneously?
Yes – each derrick and drawworks is independently rated for full load. The shared power plant is sized for peak simultaneous demand (we add 2–3 extra generators compared to a single rig).

Q3: How much deck space do I need for an offshore version?
For a jack-up, you typically need a cantilever deck width of 18–22m. Our team can provide a 3D layout based on your platform dimensions.

Q4: Is this system suitable for HPHT wells?
Absolutely. We can supply 10,000 psi or 15,000 psi BOPs on each side, with high-temperature seals and alloy drill pipe handling.

Q5: Do you provide training for the dual control system?
Yes. We offer 4-week simulator-based training at our facility in Jingzhou, plus onsite shadowing during the first 30 days of operation.

Q6: What certifications do your rigs carry?
API 4F, 7K, 8C, ISO 9001:2015, and ABS/DNV optional for offshore units.

Q7: Can you convert an existing twin-derrick rig to full simultaneous operation?
In many cases yes, but the mud systems and controls are usually the bottleneck. Contact us with your rig’s make and model – we can provide an upgrade assessment.

Q8: How long does it take to build a dual well simultaneous drilling rig from order?
Typically 12–14 months for a complete new-build. Upgrade projects take 6–8 months. We can also offer expedited delivery for standard land-pad configurations (10 months).
