Product Types – Choose Your Mounting Style
We offer three primary mounting configurations. Each has advantages depending on your well access, road regulations, and budget.
1. Skid-Mounted Coiled Tubing Units
-
Best for: Offshore platforms, permanent installations, or locations with crane access
-
Advantages: Compact footprint (as small as 20ft x 8ft), corrosion-resistant coating, easy to stack
-
Transport: Flat rack or container ship – fits ISO container footprint
2. Trailer-Mounted Coiled Tubing Units
-
Best for: Onshore wells with paved or gravel roads, low-cost mobilization
-
Advantages: Lower cost than truck-mounted, can be left on site with tractor removed
-
Transport: Single or dual-axle trailers, highway legal (8.5ft width)
3. Truck-Mounted Coiled Tubing Units
-
Best for: Remote locations, rough terrain, rapid well-to-well moves
-
Advantages: All-in-one mobility, no separate tractor needed, 4×4 or 6×6 options
-
Transport: Self-propelled, top speed ~50 mph (80 km/h)
4. Custom / Hybrid Designs
Need something different? We’ve built:
-
Helicopter-liftable skids (sub-5,000 lbs modules)
-
Dual-rig CTUs (two injectors on one power pack for parallel operations)
-
Low-profile units for barn or garage wellheads
Applications – What Our CTUs Run Every Day
Our coiled tubing units are deployed across a wide range of well intervention and light drilling operations:
-
Sanding / fill cleanout – circulating water, nitrogen, or foam
-
Acid stimulation & matrix treatment – precise fluid placement
-
Milling – cast iron bridge plugs, composite plugs, scale
-
Fishing – using CT-conveyed tools (overshots, spears, magnets)
-
Velocity string installation – for gas well deliquification
-
Logging & perforating – with electric line or fiber through CT
-
Through-tubing drilling – re-entry and slim hole sidetracking
-
Cementing – squeeze jobs and plug setting
Why Choose SJ Petro for Your Coiled Tubing Unit?
Because you need a supplier who answers the phone when something breaks at 2 AM.
| Concern | SJ Petro’s Answer |
|---|---|
| "Lead times from big brands are 8–12 months.” | We deliver in 90–120 days. Need it faster? Ask about our expedited build (60–70 days). |
| "Spare parts take weeks to arrive.” | We stock critical spares (chains, gripper blocks, seals, valves) and ship DHL/FedEx within 24 hours. |
| "Our local technicians aren’t familiar with your equipment.” | We provide full documentation, video libraries, and optional onsite training. |
| "We need financing or lease options.” | We work with lease partners or offer milestone payments (30/40/30). |
| "Your price seems too low – what’s the catch?” | No catch. We’re a direct manufacturer with lower overhead, not a rebrander. The quality is field-proven. |

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What’s the difference between a skid-mounted and a trailer-mounted CTU?
A: Skid-mounted units require a crane for placement and are ideal for offshore platforms or permanent pads. Trailer-mounted units have axles and road lights – you tow them with a tractor, then disconnect at the wellsite. Trailers are cheaper to build but require more space to maneuver.
Q2: Can you build a CTU for 3″ coiled tubing?
A: Yes. Our heavy CTU (80k–100k lb injector) handles up to 3.5″ OD tubing. We’ll adjust the reel core diameter, injector chains, and BOP interface accordingly.
Q3: How long does it take to train a crew on your equipment?
A: A new crew typically becomes proficient in 3–5 days of classroom and field practice. We provide training materials, and our field service engineer can stay on site for your first two jobs.
Q4: What certifications do your CTUs carry?
A: Standard – CE mark for European markets. Optional – API 4F (hoisting equipment), DNV 2.7-1 (offshore containers), ABS, or customer-specified third-party inspection (e.g., BV, Lloyds).
Q5: Do you offer remote technical support?
A: Yes. We can connect via video call to your wellsite and walk your crew through diagnostics. Many issues are resolved without a site visit.
Q6: What is the typical fuel consumption of your diesel-powered CTU?
A: Approximately 8–12 gallons per hour (30–45 L/h) at normal operating load (circulating, light pulling). Heavy milling or deep pulling increases consumption to ~15–18 gph (57–68 L/h). Electric drive models use 90–150 kW.
Q7: Can you customize the control cabin for left-hand or right-hand operation?
A: Absolutely. We build left-hand, right-hand, or center mount. Also can add extra displays, remote stop pendants, or data recording.
Q8: How do I know which pull capacity I need?
A: Send us your well profile (depth, deviation, tubing size, maximum anticipated pull during fishing or milling). We use industry-standard force modeling software and will recommend a specific injector rating – with a written calculation.
Q9: Do you have used or refurbished CTUs for sale?
A: Occasionally. We sometimes take trade-ins from customers upgrading their fleet. Contact us to ask about current availability.
