Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What API specifications do your wellhead tools meet?
All our wellhead tools are manufactured to API Spec 6A (latest edition) – covering casing heads, tubing spools, hangers, test plugs, BPVs, VR plugs, wear bushings, and seals.
Q2: What pressure ratings are available?
From 2,000 psi to 20,000 psi working pressure, matching API 6A flange classes (2M, 3M, 5M, 10M, 15M, 20M).
Q3: What is the difference between PSL 1, 2, 3, and 3G?
PSL defines product specification level. PSL1 is standard service. PSL2 adds additional material and testing requirements. PSL3 / PSL3G includes stringent design validation and documentation for critical service. We supply all levels.
Q4: How do I choose the correct material class (AA to HH)?
-
AA/BB – standard carbon steel for non-corrosive service
-
CC – stainless steel for mildly corrosive fluids
-
DD/EE – for moderate H2S/CO2 (NACE MR0175)
-
FF/HH – for severe H2S, CO2, and high chlorides
Our engineers can recommend based on your well fluid analysis.
Q5: Can I replace the seals on my existing wellhead with your products?
Yes. Our FS-type, P-type, BP-type, rectangular, O-ring, and S-ring seals are manufactured to international dimensions – fully interchangeable with major brands' products.
Q6: What is a VR plug, and when do I need it?
A VR plug (valve-removal plug) allows you to remove a gate valve from a live wellhead without killing the well. Essential for valve repair or replacement on producing wells.
Q7: Do you provide running tools for BPVs and test plugs?
Yes. Every back-pressure valve, test plug, and wear bushing includes a matching running and retrieving tool – no separate purchase needed.
Q8: Are your wellhead tools suitable for offshore use?
Absolutely. We offer marine-grade corrosion protection, stainless steel trim options, and all temperature classes suitable for offshore platforms and sub-sea applications.
Q9: What is your lead time for API 6A wellhead tools?
Standard stocked items (2,000–10,000 psi, AA/BB material class): 4–8 weeks. Custom specifications (higher pressure, special materials): 10–14 weeks.
Q10: Do you provide third-party witnessing and certification?
Yes. We can arrange ABS, DNV, or Lloyd’s witnessing of pressure tests and material verification. Full mill test reports (MTRs) and NACE certificates provided.
Q11: Can you supply valve repair parts for non-SJ Petro wellheads?
Yes – provided you supply the OEM part number or drawings. Many gate valve and choke valve parts are interchangeable. We will confirm compatibility before quoting.
Q12: What is the warranty on wellhead tools?
18 months from shipment or 12 months from commissioning, whichever occurs first. Covers material and workmanship defects. Extended warranty available for critical service applications.
