Product Types – Truck Mounted Drilling Equipment

We offer three families, plus specialized variants:

Family Depth Range Chassis Typical Use
SJ‑TMD‑500 (Light) Up to 500 m water 6×4 truck Water wells, geotech, environmental
SJ‑TMD‑1500 (Medium) Up to 1,500 m water 6×6 or 8×6 Shallow oil, geothermal, mining
SJ‑TMD‑2500 (Heavy) Up to 2,500 m water 8×8 or 10×8 Deep water wells, production geothermal

Specialized variants:

  • TMD‑C – Core drilling (HQ, NQ, BQ) with rod handler

  • TMD‑R – Reverse circulation (RC) for mineral exploration

  • TMD‑G – Geothermal (high‑temp mud pumps, larger cooling)

  • TMD‑W – Water well only (optimized for large diameter, low pressure)

Retrofit kits – Add automation, pipe handling, or telemetry to existing truck rigs.

Why Choose SJ Petro for Truck Mounted Drilling Equipment?

1. Road Legal Worldwide – Our rigs are designed to fit standard highway dimensions (width ≤2.55 m, height ≤4.2 m). We can also customize for specific country regulations (e.g., EU, Australia, South Africa).

2. Fastest Move in the Industry – From finishing one well to spudding the next: 1‑3 hours. Competitors’ truck rigs often take 4‑6 hours. Our design uses hydraulic hoses with quick disconnects and self‑storing outriggers.

3. Single Engine Fuel Savings – PTO drive from truck engine eliminates a dedicated rig engine. Fuel savings of 20‑30% over dual‑engine designs.

4. One‑Person Operation with Automation – Add auto‑driller and remote control, and one driller can handle the entire rig. Labour savings of 50‑70%.

5. Built for Remote Service – Easy access to maintenance points, common spare parts (truck engine parts available worldwide), and support from Sinopec’s global network.

6. Custom Chassis – We can mount on Mercedes, MAN, Volvo, Scania, Isuzu, or Sinotruk chassis – your choice.

7. Global Warranty & Support – 12 months or 2,000 hours. Service centers in Houston, Dubai, Singapore, plus OEM support for truck engines.

8. Sinopec Engineering – Designed by the same engineers who build 9,000m super‑rigs – scaled down for mobility without sacrificing reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Do I need a special driver’s license to operate the truck rig?
The truck requires a commercial driver’s license (CDL Class A or equivalent) depending on weight. The drilling controls are separate – your driller does not need to be a truck driver. Many clients have a driver transport the rig, then the driller operates it.

Q2: How long does it take to raise the mast and start drilling?
First time on site (from travel mode): 1‑3 hours depending on model and crew experience. After the first well, moving to another well on the same pad: 30‑60 minutes.

Q3: Can the rig operate on soft ground?
Yes – the outriggers have large foot pads (2 ft × 2 ft). For very soft ground (sand, mud), we offer optional track pads or bogie mats. The truck itself may need 6×6 or 8×8 drive.

Q4: What is the maximum depth for water wells?
SJ‑TMD‑500: 500 m (1,600 ft). SJ‑TMD‑1500: 1,500 m (4,900 ft). SJ‑TMD‑2500: 2,500 m (8,200 ft). Depths are for 6‑8″ diameter with standard drilling fluid. Larger diameter reduces depth.

Q5: Can the rig drill horizontally (directional drilling)?
Yes – with optional top drive and mud motor. However, our truck rigs are optimized for vertical drilling. For extensive directional drilling, we recommend a skid‑mounted rig.

Q6: Do you provide water well drilling tools (bits, stabilizers, casing)?
Yes – as an optional package. We supply tricone bits, DTH hammers, PVC/steel casing, and screen. Specify your well diameter and formation.

Q7: What is the fuel consumption while drilling?
SJ‑TMD‑500: 8‑10 gallons/hour. SJ‑TMD‑1500: 12‑15 GPH. SJ‑TMD‑2500: 15‑20 GPH. When driving, fuel consumption is the same as the truck unladen.

Q8: How many people are required to operate the rig?
Standard: 2‑3 (driller + 1‑2 helpers). With optional automation (auto‑driller, hydraulic catwalk, remote control): 1 person can operate.

Q9: What is the warranty?
12 months from commissioning or 18 months from shipment (whichever first). Chassis warranty covered by truck manufacturer (typically 24 months). Extended warranty available.

Q10: Can the rig be used for mineral exploration coring?
Yes – our SJ‑TMD‑C variant includes a core barrel hoist, split tube catwalk, and core tray rack. Handles HQ, NQ, BQ standard core barrels.

Q11: Do you provide training?
Yes – 5 days on‑site training covering truck operation, rig‑up/rig‑down, drilling techniques, and maintenance. Simulator training available at our facility.

Q12: How do I get a quote?
Provide: target depth, desired well diameter, water well or oil/gas, preferred chassis brand (optional), and any special terrain conditions. We will respond with a model recommendation and fixed price within 5 business days.
