Where the SJK450DB Delivers Results
This rig is a workhorse for moderate-depth offshore drilling and heavy workover, especially where platform limitations matter:
-
Medium-depth drilling from jack-ups – Down to 4,000–5,000 m (13,000–16,000 ft) typical
-
Heavy workover & well intervention – Pulling and running large-diameter completion strings
-
Cantilever jack-up operations – Fits standard cantilever beam spacing without overhang
-
Slot-type platform retrofits – Narrow footprint works within older leg spacings
-
Batch drilling campaigns – Repetitive cycle reliability proven in Bohai Sea and Southeast Asia
-
Extended-reach wells – Adequate hook load for moderate step-out ratios
Current field deployments: Bohai Bay (China), Malay Basin (Malaysia), and several Middle East jack-up retrofit projects.
Product Types – SJK Series Offshore Drilling Rigs

OEM & Customization — Built for Your Specific Jack-Up
The SJK450DB is a standard design, but "standard” rarely fits a specific platform perfectly. That’s why we treat every order as an engineering project.
What we customize for you:
-
Skid base geometry – Matched to your jack-up’s existing deck hard points or skid rails
-
Mast height – Reduced or extended to clear cantilever beams or leg chord bracing
-
Substructure clearance – Critical for BOP stack height and diverter access
-
Power integration – Direct from platform gensets, or we supply standalone power modules
-
Top drive mounting – Pre-drilled for NOV, Canrig, Tesco, or our own design
-
BOP handling system – Customized for single or dual-ram BOPs, with remote panel
-
Control system – Si-driller standard; third-party integration available
-
Classification society – We manage ABS, DNV, BV, or CCS certification from start to finish
Our customization process: Send us your platform deck drawing, drilling program, and any site constraints. Our in-house engineers (314 technical staff, including post-doctoral researchers) produce a 3D integration model. You approve. We build and FAT at our 50,000 m² yard with 24 rig-up positions and a 750-ton load test facility. Then we deliver — fully assembled or knocked down for shipment, as you prefer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What’s the difference between SJK450DB and SJK675DB?
A: Hook load and power. SJK450DB gives you 4,500 kN / 1,470 kW — ideal for medium-depth drilling (4,000–5,000 m) and heavy workover. SJK675DB steps up to 6,750 kN / 2,200 kW for deeper wells or higher overpull needs. Choose based on your deepest planned casing string and fishing risk.
Q2: Can the SJK450DB be installed on an older jack-up with limited deck reinforcement?
A: Often yes — and that’s exactly why we designed it. The SJK450DB’s skid base distributes load efficiently, and we can further customize the footprint and center of gravity to match your platform’s structural limits. Send us your platform load sheet, and we’ll run the numbers.
Q3: Does this rig come with a top drive?
A: The base package is kelly drive, but we can integrate most top drive brands (NOV, Canrig, Tesco, etc.) as an option. The mast comes pre-drilled with mounting interfaces, and the control system includes top drive interlocks.
Q4: What about pipe handling? Do we need manual tongs?
A: Manual tongs work fine, but we strongly recommend at least an iron roughneck for safety. We offer a full mechanized package: catwalk machine, iron roughneck, and pipe racking system. All integrated with Si-driller controls.
Q5: How long from order to delivery?
A: For an SJK450DB with standard options, typically 8–10 months. Full custom (including new skid geometry or certification to a specific class society) might add 2–3 months. Contact us with your target sail-away date for a firm commitment.
Q6: Can you provide ABS / DNV certification?
A: Yes. We’ve done ABS, DNV, BV, and CCS for previous SJK series deliveries. We handle the survey coordination and documentation. Just specify which society at the quotation stage.
Q7: Do you have spare parts in stock for SJK450DB components?
A: Yes — we maintain a consigned spares inventory for critical items (drawworks brake pads, hydraulic seals, sensors, etc.). For major components, lead time is typically 4–8 weeks. We can also set up a local spares consignment at your onshore base for high-activity campaigns.
Q8: Is the SJK450DB suitable for H2S service?
A: Base materials are sour-service compatible up to a point. For high H2S environments, we can upgrade seals, coatings, and pressure-containing components to NACE MR0175. Specify your service conditions during inquiry.
Q9: Can I see a running SJK450DB in the field before buying?
A: We can arrange a site visit to an operating location in China or Southeast Asia, subject to the operator’s permission. Alternatively, we have factory acceptance test footage and third-party inspection reports available under NDA.
Q10: What’s your payment and warranty terms?
A: Standard terms: 30% advance, 40% upon factory acceptance, 30% before shipment. Warranty is 18 months from shipment or 12 months from commissioning, whichever comes first. Extended warranty available.
