Why Choose SJ Petro Based on These Specifications?

1. We Don't Just Give Numbers – We Guarantee Them

Every specification in this document is validated by:

  • Factory load testing (to 125% of rated capacity)

  • Third-party witnessed inspections (SGS, BV, DNV upon request)

  • Field data from 150+ operating units

If a delivered unit fails to meet the stated specifications, we will correct it at our cost.

2. Modular Design – Easy to Fit, Easy to Upgrade

Our catwalk lengths and angles are adjustable during installation. If you later raise your substructure or change pipe sizes, we can supply extension sections or new V-groove inserts – no need to replace the entire system.

3. Full Documentation Package

Every system ships with:

  • Certified dimension drawing (as-built)

  • Hydraulic schematic

  • Electrical wiring diagram

  • PLC program backup

  • Spare parts list with OEM part numbers

  • 3D model (STEP format) for layout planning

4. Global Compliance – API, ISO, CE, GOST

We can supply systems certified to your regional standards:

  • API 8C – Drilling and well servicing equipment

  • CE – For European Union

  • GOST / EAC – For Russia & Customs Union

  • ABS / DNV – For offshore (class approval)

5. Built to Last – Field Data on Wear Life

Based on fleet data from Sinopec’s Fuling shale gas field:

  • Chain life: 5,000 – 6,000 operating hours (replacement cost ~$800)

  • Hydraulic cylinder seals: 8,000 hours

  • Slider wear strips: 4,000 hours (reversible, $200 set)

  • PLC & sensors: >20,000 hours MTBF

6. Backed by Sinopec – The Ultimate Reference

Our equipment has been used to handle millions of pipe joints without a single conveyor-related dropped-object incident. That’s not just a spec – it's a track record.

FAQ – Drill String Conveying Specifications

Q1: What is the minimum and maximum pipe OD the system can handle without changeover parts?

A: Standard models handle 2-3/8″ to 13-3/8″ without any manual change of V-grooves or guides. For 16″ to 20″ casing, we provide quick-change inserts (15 minutes to swap). For 1.9″ tubing or sucker rods, an optional smaller V-groove insert is available.

Q2: How accurate is the platform height specification? Can I use the system if my rig floor is 5.2m but the model says max 5.0m?

A: The height ranges are conservative. A DSC-3.0 rated for 5.0m can safely handle 5.2m with reduced conveyor angle (e.g., 32° instead of 35°). However, for optimal performance and safety margin, we recommend moving to the next model if your platform height exceeds the rated maximum by more than 0.3m.

Q3: What hydraulic oil type and viscosity is required?

A: Standard: ISO VG 46 (mineral oil). For arctic: ISO VG 32 synthetic. For offshore / fire-risk: HFD (phosphate ester) or water-glycol. The system seals are compatible with all common hydraulic fluids – please specify your fluid type when ordering so we can supply correct seal material.

Q4: Can the system be operated in manual mode if the PLC fails?

A: Yes. A manual override valve block allows emergency operation of all cylinders and the conveyor motor using a hand pump or alternative hydraulic source. Full manual operation is slower but allows you to finish the shift while repairs are arranged.

Q5: What is the typical noise level during operation?

A: Hydraulic power unit (dedicated HPU) produces 75 dBA at 1 meter. The catwalk itself (chains and rollers) adds ~70 dBA. With the HPU placed behind a barrier or inside a doghouse, noise at the driller's position is typically below 80 dBA.

Q6: Do you provide a 3D CAD model for layout planning?

A: Yes. Upon request, we provide a STEP or IGES model of the complete system (catwalk, HPU, control cabinet) with all dimensions and mounting points. This allows you to integrate the system into your rig layout before ordering.

Q7: What are the power requirements for the electric drive option?

A: Electric drive (instead of hydraulic) uses an AC motor with VFD directly driving the conveyor chain. Power requirement: 11.5 kW (380-460V, 50/60 Hz). No hydraulic HPU needed. However, the skid arm still requires a small hydraulic power pack (1.5 kW) for tilting. We recommend the hydraulic version for most applications unless you have strict emission or noise limits.

Q8: What documentation do you provide for API 8C certification?

A: For API 8C monogrammed systems, we provide:

  • Design calculation report (FEA for catwalk, skid arm)

  • Material certificates (EN 10204 3.1 for structural steel)

  • Welding procedure and welder qualifications

  • Load test certificate (witnessed by API auditor)

  • Pressure test certificates for hydraulic components

Additional costs apply for API monogram and third-party witnessing – ask for a quote.
