Innovation & Technical Strengths
We build fracturing equipment for continuous duty in harsh environments. Here’s what sets SJ apart:
-
Five-plunger ultra-high pressure pump – Our 2500HP and 3000HP frac pumps use five plungers instead of three, reducing pressure ripple by 40% and extending fluid end life. Sustained operation at 15,000 psi is routine.
-
Real-time frac control system – Centralized command van with touchscreen controls for all pumps, blenders, and data acquisition. Operators can switch individual pumps on/off, adjust rate and pressure, and monitor proppant concentration in real time.
-
Closed-loop proppant blending – Our blenders use mass flow sensors to precisely control sand concentration (±1% accuracy). Automatic adjustment for fluctuating supply – no “slugging” into the well.
-
Wireless pump synchronization – Up to 16 frac units can be wirelessly synchronized for combined output without cables. Faster rig-up and fewer tripping hazards on a crowded pad.
-
Continuous-duty cooling system – Radiator and fan design rated for ambient temperatures up to 50°C (122°F). Prevent thermal shutdown during multi-stage frac jobs that run 18+ hours.
-
Dual-fuel capability (diesel + natural gas) – Our 3000HP pumps can run on field gas, reducing fuel cost by up to 30% and lowering emissions. Especially attractive for remote shale plays where gas is cheap.
-
High-viscosity friction reducer injection – Built-in chemical injection skids for slickwater fracs, cross-linked gels, and breakers. Automated dosing based on pump rate.
-
Remote monitoring & diagnostics – All equipment transmits pressure, temperature, vibration, and oil condition to a cloud platform. Your engineers can monitor from anywhere – and we can diagnose issues remotely.

Applications – Where Our Fracturing Equipment Excels
-
Shale gas & shale oil – Multi-stage slickwater fracs in tight organic-rich formations. Our fleets are running in the Sichuan Basin, Ordos Basin, and international shale plays.
-
Tight sandstone reservoirs – Low-permeability gas formations requiring high-conductivity fractures. Our precise proppant placement ensures long-term production.
-
Coalbed methane stimulation – Low-pressure, low-rate fracturing to open natural cleats. Our pumps can operate efficiently at reduced output.
-
Enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) – Creating artificial fractures in hot dry rock. High temperature resistant fluids and continuous pumping capability required – our fleets deliver.
-
Refracturing mature wells – Second or third frac jobs to bypass damaged near-wellbore area. Our data van helps optimize stage spacing.
-
Hydraulic fracturing for water wells – Stimulating low-yield aquifers (smaller fleets available).
-
Offshore fracturing (platform or stimulation vessel) – Compact electric pump skids with explosion-proof certification for well stimulation on platforms.
Why Choose SJ Petroleum Machinery for Fracturing Equipment?
-
Sinopec subsidiary – deep industry roots – We are part of one of the world’s largest oil & gas enterprises. That means we understand fracturing from the operator’s perspective, not just as a manufacturer.
-
Over 200 fracturing units delivered – SJ has been building high-pressure pumps since the 1990s. Our designs evolved with the shale revolution. Proven reliability in China’s most challenging basins.
-
API 6A, 7K, 16C certified – All pressure-containing components are API certified. Third-party inspections (DNV, Lloyd’s) available.
-
In-house engineering for custom fleets – Need electric pumps instead of diesel? Want a smaller footprint for platform use? Our engineers will modify the design. No forced “one-size-fits-all.”
-
Realistic lead times – 6–9 months for a complete 6-pump fleet, depending on components. Smaller orders (2–3 pumps) can ship within 4–5 months.
-
Global parts network – Fluid end modules, valves, seats, packing, and power end parts stocked for air freight. Average response time for emergency parts: 72 hours to most international destinations.
-
Comprehensive training & field support – We provide on-site training for your crew during commissioning. Remote troubleshooting via video call included for first 6 months.
-
Competitive life-cycle cost – Initial purchase price 20–30% below top-tier North American brands. And our fluid end modules are priced reasonably – you won’t be locked into a proprietary monopoly.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What is the difference between your quintuplex and triplex pumps?
A: Quintuplex (five plungers) pumps have smoother discharge pressure (lower pulsation), which reduces vibration and extends fluid end life. Triplex pumps are simpler but have higher pressure ripple. For high-pressure continuous frac work, we recommend quintuplex.
Q2: Can your fracturing pumps run on natural gas?
A: Yes. Our dual-fuel option allows the engine to burn up to 70% natural gas mixed with diesel. This cuts fuel cost significantly in gas-rich shale areas and reduces CO₂ emissions. Full diesel-only operation is also available.
Q3: How many pumps do I need for a typical unconventional well?
A: For a 10,000 ft horizontal well with 30 stages, we recommend a fleet of 6–8 pumps (2500HP each). But it depends on treating pressure and rate. Send us your completion design – we will provide a specific recommendation.
Q4: Do you offer electric fracturing fleets?
A: Yes. For pads with grid access or turbine-generated power, we supply electric drive pumps (up to 6000HP). These are quieter, have fewer moving parts, and lower emissions. Contact us for details.
Q5: What is the typical lifespan of your fluid end?
A: Under normal operating conditions (clean fluid, ≤15,000 psi), our quintuplex fluid ends average 800–1,000 hours before major overhaul. With proper maintenance (daily flushing, inspection), some customers exceed 1,500 hours.
Q6: Can you integrate your equipment with an existing fleet from another manufacturer?
A: Yes. Our control system can communicate via industry-standard protocols (Modbus, CANbus) to synchronize with pumps from other brands. We routinely blend SJ pumps with legacy fleets.
Q7: How do you handle sand / proppant delivery to the blender?
A: Our blenders are compatible with pneumatic sand trucks, belt feeders, or manual sand boxes. We can also supply a separate sand storage and delivery unit if needed.
Q8: What safety features do your fracturing units have?
A: Each pump has a remote emergency stop (E-stop) button, high-pressure relief valve, and pressure safety high (PSH) interlock. The command van displays real-time pressure and can shut down individual pumps automatically if limits are exceeded.
Q9: Do you offer used fracturing equipment?
A: Occasionally we have trade-in units that have been refurbished with new fluid ends and engines. Inquire for current inventory. We also provide certified rebuilt fluid ends at lower cost.
Q10: How do I get a quotation for a complete fracturing fleet?
A: Please provide: target treating pressure (psi), max rate (bpm), number of stages per well, pad duration, and preferred fuel type (diesel, dual-fuel, or electric). We will reply with a technical proposal and commercial offer within 5–7 working days.
